Buying fresh food and having to throw it away because it went bad before you had the chance to savor it is a different level of frustration. How long your perishables last — your meat, dairy, and fresh produce — can vary depending on many factors. We understand your frustration; we’ve felt it, too, and the struggle is REAL! That’s why we created Freshly Fridge, a solution to fridge and freezer woes. And we’re proud to say that we’ve figured out how to make food last up to 50% longer.

Let us show you the science behind why your food goes bad and how Freshly Fridge’s unique technology and patented design help keep your fresh food fresh for even longer and save money on your groceries.

What Does a Refrigerator Even Do?

Nobody thinks about how a refrigerator works. We simply open the door and expect our food to be cold and fresh. We take its magical powers for granted. If we had suggested such a crazy idea 300 years ago, we would have been burned like witches at the stake!

That magical box in your kitchen is a very technologically advanced piece of equipment. It takes its name from refrigerant, which is the chemical used to keep everything inside cold. We humans came up with the nickname “fridge” because as a society, we take pleasure in shortening absolutely everything.

To put it simply, refrigerant pulls hot air from inside the fridge and dumps it outside. It is constantly pumped in through the valves behind your refrigerator, shapeshifting from liquid to gas to keep the hot air out and the cold air in. While today’s refrigerators haven’t changed much since the originals, they likely will in the next 100 years or so.

Scientists are constantly tinkering with crazy new ways to keep your food cool. Suppose the technology continues to develop as iPhones do. In that case, your refrigerator might be able to fly into your living room to bring you an ice-cold beverage. We’re kidding, mostly.

Why Does Food Go Bad?

You may be wondering, if your fridge is such a fancy piece of technology, then why do your strawberries sometimes go bad in as little as a day, while your friend’s fruit still looks fresh-picked a week later? At first glance, it may seem like the universe is working against you. But we promise that your friend’s fridge isn’t trying to one-up you; there are various forces that control how long your food stays fresh and how quickly it becomes tomorrow’s garbage. But it comes down to three main components: temperature, humidity and moisture, and ethylene gas.

Temperature
Ideally, your fridge should be at 40 degrees or less to store your food correctly. Unfortunately, many people don’t know the ideal temperature for their refrigerator and never bother to check it. Without an appliance thermometer, it’s hard to tell if your refrigerator is at the optimum temperature unless you are a human thermometer. Many things can affect the temperature of your appliance, including opening the door repeatedly or keeping it open for too long. So, maybe skip that midnight peek inside your cold storage when you think you might want a snack.

Humidity and Moisture
This is the trickiest problem of them all. When perishable foods get wet or even left moist before placing them in the fridge, it causes them to spoil faster. What makes this tricky is that some items in your fridge, like meat and certain vegetables, carry moisture by nature. That’s a sticky wicket, isn’t it? You can do things to help prevent condensation, like properly toweling off your produce before you place it in the fridge. However, because your fridge is cold, moisture and humidity will also naturally be present in the air, and there’s nothing you can do to prevent that. Or is there?

Ethylene Gas
The name sounds complicated, but it is pretty simple. Ethylene Gas is the byproduct of the fruits you are storing. As your fruits live it up in your fridge, they give off ethylene gas which causes them to decay and change in texture and color. It is also behind the ripening of your favorite fruits, so it isn’t all bad. But the more ethylene gas is released, the quicker your food decays.

So, How Does Freshly Fridge Work?

Lots of products claim to do lots of things, but they don’t consistently deliver. That isn’t the case with Freshly Fridge. We are confident that we can help you keep your food fresher up to 50% longer. In fact, it’s a promise!

FF uses unique technology to target the three areas that cause food to go foul fast, ethylene gas, humidity and moisture, and temperature. First, our expertly constructed filter traps contaminated particles that are attached to water inside the air. It does this using a chemical called sorbite. It is 100% natural, non-toxic, and completely recyclable. It is also collected right here in the U.S.A., from the Mojave Desert. Because Sorbite prefers to live in 80-90% humidity conditions, it keeps its surrounding environment in that range. That range also happens to be the optimum condition for perishable food storage.

Sorbite also absorbs ethylene gas as your fruits and vegetables produce it inside your fridge. Your filter inside your Freshly Fridge pack continues to clean the surrounding air until the air inside your fridge drops below 80% humidity. When this happens, the purified moisture particles previously captured by our filter are released back into the air, restabilizing the environment.

Despite how complicated the science sounds, Freshly Fridge is straightforward and easy to use. It only takes three simple steps to bring you closer to fresher, better-tasting food!

  1. Activate the Sorbite by putting your Freshly Fridge container in the microwave for 30 seconds on its highest setting.
  2. Allow your Freshly Fridge pack to cool for 1 minute, then place on the top shelf of your fridge and a second pack inside the crisper.
  3. Renew Freshly Fridge’s scientific superpowers by repeating these easy steps every 30 days. Replace your Freshly Fridge every six months for optimum results.
